Market competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range of $140,000 - $164,000. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. Full-time employees are also eligible for a competitive equity package, and benefits.

About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Credit Risk Manager to lead credit risk analytics supporting underwriting, pricing and automated decisioning across PayZen’s product suite. In this role, you will develop and optimize credit risk strategies spanning core decision points, partner closely across the organization to enhance our decision engine, and ensure credit strategies balance growth, portfolio quality and patient experience.

You will play a critical role in translating complex data into scalable and robust risk solutions. We are looking for team members who are passionate about contributing to the growth of a product that’s improving access to healthcare for all Americans.

This role reports to the Head of Credit, and collaborates closely with stakeholders across the organization including Finance, Product, Engineering, Go-to-Market.

This is a hybrid role, based in our San Francisco headquarters with in-office days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Responsibilities

  • Define, execute and socialize credit risk strategy and risk appetite aligned to effective risk mitigation, growth and profitability goals

  • Establish credit policy and lifecycle controls across patient touchpoints

  • Leverage traditional and alternative data to design and refine underwriting and pricing strategies across PayZen’s products

  • Maintain critical reporting to track KPIs including origination trends, delinquency and loss rates, pricing and unit economics

  • Enhance loss forecasting and work closely with partners to quantify implications of loss forecast and loss curve changes

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to translate risk requirements into scalable, production-grade decision logic as well as support ongoing optimization of credit decisioning through experimentation, monitoring, and feedback loops

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in credit risk analytics, underwriting, or portfolio management within fintech, payments, or lending

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience using Python (or similar) for data analysis and modeling

  • Ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations for cross functional partners

  • Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with multiple stakeholders

  • Familiarity with real-time or near–real-time decision engines and underwriting platforms

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or Computer Science
