Role Description

We’re looking for a software engineer to improve how we use data to explore potential investment areas and support our portfolio companies. On the engineering team, you will work closely with our investment, portfolio and talent team members in building world-class software.

What you’ll be doing:

• Building industry-standard backend architecture, data pipelines, and product requirements for our AI platform, Beacon which helps our firm invest in the best startups in the market
• Enabling investors to find interesting potential investments with our data-driven sourcing system and product
• Helping portfolio companies to hire the best early employees with a startup-focused recruiting tool
• Procuring and evaluating potential new data sources in service of identifying, diligencing, and supporting startups

Your background:

• Between 2-6 years of experience with backend frameworks (Django, Rails, or similar), cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), SQL, and Python
• BS/MS in computer science or a similarly quantitative field
• Experience with modern frameworks like React, Next.js, Vue, or comparable tools.
• Practical understanding and experience with cloud platforms, including AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Demonstrated ability to design and build backend infrastructure and architecture that seamlessly supports front-end functionality.
• A track record of taking pride in working on large-scale projects, successfully managing them from inception to completion.
• Ability to work hybrid from our office in San Francisco (preferred) or New York City (in-office required 2-3 days a week)
