The Head of Content is an integral part of the SignalFire marketing team, leading the detailed planning and execution of SignalFire’s content, including firm-level, sector-level, portfolio news, and company-building content to be distributed across our blog, social channels, newsletters, and potential new channels over time. Working from your overall content strategy, you will ensure the execution of our content is top-notch, creates memorable insights for our target audiences, and is a key part of our integrated marketing campaign strategy. This includes content planning and logistics, coordinating and coaching writers across our team, managing the production process, working with marketing on distribution, and measuring and analyzing engagement and impact KPIs.

What we are looking for in a candidate:

You will be successful in this role if you build an effective content strategy, editorial calendar, and scalable content engine that keeps SignalFire top of mind among founders, LPs, and the broader VC ecosystem.

  • World-class writing skills and excited to keep “hands on keyboard”, with experience writing for different, and often highly technical, audiences and industries, and a variety of platforms
  • Strong project management and communication skills, with experience working across multiple teams and stakeholders - including senior leadership
  • Highly organized with a process-oriented mindset and ability to develop consistent processes, documentation, and SOPs
  • Data-driven and analytical and able to use data to evaluate the success of initiatives and improve our messaging, segmentation, and measurement
  • Strong ownership mentality and a bias toward action to lead in ambiguous situations and high-paced environments
  • Highly entrepreneurial and creative to create memorable and impactful experiences

Responsibilities:

Your goal is to create an industry-leading content engine that drives greater awareness and respect for SignalFire with our audiences.

  • Editorial strategy: Defining and executing the editorial strategy, including setting the tone, style, and standards for content, and collaborating across the team to define sector-specific themes and topics
  • Content planning: Working across the firm and with the Marketing team to map our editorial calendar to support for our integrated campaigns and larger marketing strategy
  • Content production and workflow: Overseeing the production, writing, editing, and publication of all written content across a variety of channels
  • Budgeting: Planning budgets and negotiating contracts with freelancers as needed
  • Management: Hiring writers, reporters, and other employees, and directly managing other editors
  • Data and measurement: Conducting keyword research and targeting specific keywords for articles; using historical and market data to create actionable insights and inform our strategy; measuring performance and ROI of content over time
  • Content updates: Keeping content current and ensuring it fits the publishing media, video production, or social media
