The Position: Legal Operations Associate

This is an exciting opportunity to engage in all aspects of operationalizing a venture capital firm as you will touch everything we do from working with our investment, people, finance, IR, portfolio support and engineering teams as well as some operational interaction with portfolio company Founders. This position will play a key role in improving day to day efficiency, transparency and reliability of the legal team through designing and managing non-legal operational aspects, systems and workflows to deliver efficient legal services and solutions for the organization. This position will join as the second member of the legal team and will directly report to the VP Legal.

The Candidate: You are a proactive, high energy, team player who can flag the unflagged while getting everything done. You enjoy designing and building technology-enabled systems for scale. You are detail oriented on multiple concurrent projects and drive workflows to completion. No one needs to push you to excel and grow beyond your job description – that’s just who you are. Ideally, you have worked in a VC/PE firm, corporate law firm or high growth technology company. You are comfortable interacting with senior management. This is a perfect position for someone looking to gain broad experience in a fast-paced position with high expectations.

Job Description:

  • Develop and manage workflows and tracking for investment transactions, entity formations, vendor contracts, employment-related contracts, NDAs, and other commercial contracts to improve coordination between legal and the relevant business teams.
  • Assist with identifying scalable legal technology tools and implementing them.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of critical legal systems and related workflows, including templates and playbooks to increase ability for legal to deliver as efficiently as possible.
  • Provide ongoing assistance to legal team, including fund, corporate, employment, litigation and intellectual property as the need arises
  • Assist with benefits admin and other administrative activities of the Company.
  • Willing to be flexible in terms of hours to meet business needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience working with legal professionals in a capacity as a paralegal or legal operations team member.
  • 3+ years of total experience, ideally with experience in a VC/PE firm, corporate law firm or high growth technology company.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Professional and Docusign preferred.
  • Process oriented with project management experience.
  • Strong ethical foundation with the ability to speak up if you see issues.
  • Excellent organization, professionalism and communication skills.

Location: San Francisco, CA

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000, which is reflective of a position based in San Francisco, CA. This salary will be subject to geographic adjustment, if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
