Position Summary

As the Senior Technical Writer at Prophecy, you will play a pivotal role in developing, refining, and elevating our existing documentation. You will work directly alongside the core product team. This position involves crafting engaging content that assists data practitioners of various skill sets, both proficient programmers and low code users, in navigating using Prophecy for advanced data engineering and analytics challenges.

Your experience in data engineering, data analytics, or business analytics will empower you to create clear, compelling instructional materials. With a knack for straightforward storytelling and a systematic approach to organizing information, you will champion the customer’s perspective in a fast-paced environment.

Your role in crafting clear, accessible documentation democratizes complex technical knowledge, significantly enhancing user engagement and proficiency. By disseminating best practices and keeping documentation aligned with the latest industry trends, you will facilitate continuous learning and innovation.

What You'll Need

Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in technical writing with experience in B2B SaaS companies.
  • 4+ years of experience working in ETL, data engineering, or data analytics space.
  • Proficiency in writing content in markdown version controlled in GitHub, building architectures in LucidChart, and visuals in Figma.
  • Proficiency in crafting compelling narratives about the product suite across formats such as user guides, product manuals, quick start guides, and video tutorials.
  • Basic coding skills & experience working with SDKs, APIs, or CLIs.

Articulation

  • Possess impeccable English writing skills, with a strong grasp of grammar, syntax, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Excel at converting complex technical concepts into clear, simple instructions.
  • Skilfully adapt technical documentation to suit diverse audience needs.

Collaboration Skills

  • Capability to collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and subject matter experts (including customer-facing technical staff, like data engineers) to ensure best-in-class and technically accurate content.
  • Actively learn and test product functionality to inform accurate documentation.
  • Leadership skills and experience in driving documentation initiatives and establishing guidelines and best practices for the technical writing function.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Communication, or a related field.
