About Us

Monarch came out of private beta in early 2021. Since that time we have quickly become one of the premier ways to manage your financial life. Customers love the product and we have seen rapid, organic growth. Our users say that Monarch helps them feel more confident in their finances, and more confident in their financial future.

Our founding team consists of product-driven, serial entrepreneurs with multiple exits. Additionally, our CEO was one of the original creators of Mint.com and has a unique perspective on what is needed to meet consumers' needs in this market.

We are passionate about building a company, product and brand that both customers and employees love. We are well-funded by top venture firms and angel investors.

We founded the company as a fully-remote team (pre Covid!) and are open to applicants that live within a 5 hour time zone difference of US Pacific Time.

About the role:

The foundation of our product rests upon our ability to correctly, promptly, and securely pull in our users’ financial data from their underlying institutions. We can win by doing better at this problem than our competitors, and if we can’t solve it well, the rest of the product is rendered useless. While we work with multiple data providers (like Plaid, Finicity, and MX) to sync this data, ultimately, users correctly hold us responsible for the quality of our integrations. We’ve been an innovator in this space (for instance, we were one of the first products to work with multiple data partners), but this problem is far from solved, especially as Open Banking evolves.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integration of our systems with financial institutions, ensuring efficient and reliable data aggregation.

  • Frame the problem, put together a strategy, decide how success should be measured, prioritize projects, and execute successfully.

  • Partner with top-tier data providers like Plaid, Finicity, and MX to boost connection success rates, echoing Monarch Money's commitment to excellence.

  • Set and monitor key performance metrics, identify areas for enhancement, and devise innovative technical solutions.

  • Decide how we will incorporate innovations in AI to help solve this problem.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, demonstrating skills in managing complex financial data systems.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a knack for systems-level thinking, essential in the dynamic field of financial data aggregation.

  • Thorough understanding of industry leaders like Plaid and Finicity, complementing our goal of offering holistic financial management tools.

  • Background in data integration and familiarity with AI for efficient data classification, aligning with our mission of making financial data accessible and manageable.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in translating customer feedback into impactful product improvements, resonating with our user-centric approach.

  • Skills in data quality enhancement and enrichment, aligning with our objective to make financial data more intuitive and user-friendly.

  • Collaborative attitude to work effectively with diverse teams and external partners, mirroring our culture of teamwork and shared success.

Technologies or knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of frontend user journey and UX principles, important for creating an engaging and intuitive user experience.

  • Comfort discussing backend technologies and API integrations

  • Experience with AI and data tools for effective categorization and problem-solving, in line with our aim to provide clarity and control over personal finances.
