Why we need you
As our first dedicated QA hire, you’ll build the foundation for how we ensure product quality across everything we ship. You’ll own the testing strategy, establish scalable QA processes, and roll up your sleeves to execute hands-on testing as we grow. By setting standards for test automation, workflows, and tooling, you’ll play a critical role in making sure our product is reliable and secure for our customers.
What you’ll do
Define and implement the company’s QA strategy, processes, and tooling from the ground up.
Develop and maintain automated test frameworks across front-end, back-end, and integrations.
Conduct hands-on manual and exploratory testing to catch edge cases and ensure high-quality releases.
Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product to identify risks early and embed QA best practices into development.
Create clear workflows for regression testing, release validation, and bug triage.
Establish quality metrics and reporting to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
Mentor and eventually help build a QA team as the company scales.
Must-have experience
5+ years of QA or Software Engineering experience, including at least 2+ years in a lead or ownership role.
Proven ability to design and implement QA processes and automation frameworks from scratch.
Hands-on expertise with test automation tools (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, Jest, or similar).
Experience testing APIs, integrations, and distributed systems.
Strong collaboration skills; able to work closely with cross-functional teams in fast-moving environments.
A pragmatic approach—knowing when automation is critical vs. when manual testing is faster.
Nice-to-haves
Previous experience as the first QA hire at a startup.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps workflows, and cloud-based infrastructure.
Background in regulated industries (healthcare, fintech, etc.) where compliance and reliability are paramount.
Comfort with scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, or similar).
Experience working on AI-powered products or agentic systems.
Compensation Range: $160K - $240K
