Role Overview -

As a Backend Engineer at Lyric, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing the core functionality of our platform from the ground up. Leveraging your expertise in Python, FastAPI, Kubernetes, AWS, and microservices architecture, you will be instrumental in creating a robust and scalable backend infrastructure that powers our innovative supply chain solutions. This individual contributor role presents a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with our ML Architect, data scientist, and Product Managers, shaping the platform's evolution and ensuring its alignment with industry-leading practices.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Design, develop, and deploy backend microservices using Python and FastAPI on Kubernetes and AWS.
  • Build and maintain scalable, high-performance, and reliable architecture to support our supply chain decision science platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including ML Architects, data scientists, and Product Managers to define requirements and develop core features.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical documentation and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous innovation within the platform.
What We Are Looking For
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in backend development using Python, with a strong grasp of object-oriented programming and design principles.
  • Proficiency in building RESTful APIs using frameworks like FastAPI.
  • Solid experience with microservices architecture, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Previous involvement in developing scalable, high-availability systems.
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices including version control, testing, and continuous integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced startup environment.
