At Ledger Investing, the platform we are building includes a risk marketplace, an asset management arm, and a broker dealer all built on our data pipeline Ledger Connect. Risk originators, like insurers and brokers, come to us to gain access to the capital markets but stay for Ledger Connect and the platform’s seamless integration and data services. Investors, like pension plans and other institutional investors, get access to an asset class that is completely uncorrelated with traditional financial asset classes.
About the position:
The Senior Reinsurance Accounting Manager position is a great opportunity for an experienced reinsurance accounting manager to gain exposure to all aspects of casualty insurance securitization, asset management, fund finance and operations in a tech-first environment. Unlike traditional finance roles, Ledger uses technology to solve operational data issues. The role will report directly into the Managing Director of Ledger ILS Manager and will be a critical resource working along side the Investment Team and the CIO. This is an opportunity for someone with deep reinsurance accounting experience who wants to build fund operations for a new investment asset class. - Build and manage a team to perform reconciliation for cedant reinsurance bordereaux
- Work with Ledger Program Management team to resolve issues related to cedant program performance
- Work with the offshore Insurance Transformer in setting and implementing Separate Account accounting procedures and producing Separate Account Financials
- Participate in preparation of fund financial statements for all managed entities and third party capital
- Assist in the design and implementation of automated reporting to stakeholders
- Manage third-party vendors for compliance, reinsurance accounting, valuation consultants and auditors
- Other operational tasks related to fund and reinsurance vehicles including regulatory filings, cash transfers, and account openings
- Undergraduate degree in accounting with 5-8 years of prior experience, with minimum of 4 years of experience in reinsurance accounting
- Attention to detail and an ability to organize work around tight deadlines
- Strong Excel skills, and a willingness to adopt new technologies
- Self-starter, with a thirst for learning and a desire to work in a fast paced start-up environment
- Leadership experience in an reinsurance accounting setting
- Prior fund accounting or operations experience
- Coding skills or a working knowledge of python
