ABOUT THE ROLE
The Logistics Manager will oversee and actively participate in the daily operations of the logistics team at the Walnut Creek office. This role involves leading a small, dedicated team, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of medical equipment, supplies, and other resources necessary for clinical research. The Logistics Manager will also be responsible for developing processes, maintaining compliance, and engaging with vendors to ensure optimal operational performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and support a small logistics team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review objectives, performance, and operational updates.
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members.
Development of Processes and Documentation:
- Create, update, and maintain work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other key documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Standardize workflows to improve efficiency and reduce errors in logistics operations.
- Ensure that all documentation aligns with regulatory and organizational requirements.
Day-to-Day Operations:
- Perform daily logistics activities, including managing shipments, coordinating deliveries, and maintaining inventory levels.
- Oversee the allocation, calibration, and maintenance of medical equipment.
- Address urgent requests or issues related to logistics for in-home clinical visits.
Audits and Compliance:
- Lead and participate in internal and external audits related to logistics and supply chain operations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, sponsor requirements, and internal policies.
- Identify and implement corrective actions for any audit findings.
Process Improvement and Strategic Planning:
- Analyze logistics workflows and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Contribute to the regionalization of logistics operations to improve efficiency and reduce lead times.
- Plan for future resource needs based on study pipeline projections and sponsor requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or a related field, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
- Skills:
- Experience in developing work instructions, SOPs, and managing audits.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software or systems is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is based in our Walnut Creek, CA office and requires regular in-office presence to perform daily activities and oversee the team.
