The Role
We're looking for a senior SEO/GEO specialist to own our organic search and AI search presence. This is a hands-on execution role — not advisory. You'll work closely with our Content Lead and engineering team to increase inbound pipeline through SEO and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization).
Our technical SEO foundations are strong and technical fixes are handled by engineering. This role is focused on content strategy, content optimization, GEO experimentation, and backlinks — the areas where we need human expertise.
Objective
- Increase Lago's mentions and citations in AI search results (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini)
- Increase search visibility and organic traffic for high-intent keywords
- Drive measurable inbound pipeline from organic and AI search channels
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
- Deep understanding of SEO and ability to execute end-to-end (not just audit or advise)
- Staying on top of GEO best practices and executing on new insights fast — GEO tactics have a short shelf life and we need someone who adapts quickly
- Ability to design and run experiments — form hypotheses, run low-downside tests, and execute autonomously
- Loyal to outcomes, not activities — if the data says pivot, you pivot
- Content taste — you know what makes good content for both SEO and GEO, even if you're not writing every piece yourself
Strong Signals
- You follow people like Joshua Blyskal, Eli Schwartz, Kevin Indig and stay current on GEO research
- You can cite specific results with numbers (e.g. "increased organic traffic by X%", "recovered Y keywords")
- You've owned SEO end-to-end at a company (not just one slice like backlinks or content)
- You have experience with or strong understanding of GEO / AI search optimization
- You're comfortable using AI tools in your workflow
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in B2B SaaS, developer tools, or fintech/billing
- Familiarity with tools: Ahrefs, Athena, Google Search Console
- Experience with Reddit as an SEO/GEO distribution channel
How You'll Work With Us
- Our Content Lead is the strategic owner and quality gatekeeper. You execute against the strategy, and he reviews output for Lago voice and context.
- Our engineering team handles all technical SEO fixes — Schema.org, sitemap, redirects, canonicals. You won't need to touch the codebase.
- Weekly check-ins to review progress against KPIs.
- You'll have access to Ahrefs, Google Search Console, Athena, and our Ghost CMS blog.
Logistics
- 3–4 days/week, remote
- 90-day initial engagement
- Option to extend or convert to full-time based on results
