About the Role:

As a People Business Partner at Flock Freight, you are the dedicated liaison between your assigned department and the People Team resources. You are responsible for being an advisor to management and a resource that helps foster incredible culture throughout your departments. Responsibilities:

  • Form strong relationships with department leaders grounded in trust and mutual respect, partnering to develop and implement effective HR policies and practices that will support the strategic growth of the business leading with data informed recommendations
  • Serve as a partner for our Carrier Sales and Freight Operations teams, acting as an advocate for leaders and contributors across the organization
  • Offer thought leadership regarding organizational and people-related strategy and execution
  • Educate, coach, and partner with managers on performance management and employee development goals (e.g. difficult conversations, providing SBI Feedback, facilitating career conversations etc)
  • Provide members of your business unit guidance using HR best practice and expertise in the areas such as feedback, employee relations, development and coaching, and organizational development
  • Provide guidance to leaders on employee relations topics when needed, operating with a high level of discretion for matters highly sensitive
  • In tandem with the People Team, ensure successful implementation of broader People Team initiatives and programs that span the organization, bubbling up opportunities for new program development and areas of opportunity identified inside the teams you support
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the People Ops team to develop solutions, programs and policies
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees
  • Works closely with management and employees to foster a positive and enjoyable team environment
  • Determine exempt/non-exempt eligibility for new roles
  • Provides guidance and input on department workforce planning

Qualifications:

  • You are a wonderful verbal and written communicator - you know when to keep it serious and when to throw in some jokes!
  • You are personable and people know they can trust you
  • With the pace we’re going, things can get a little crazy, so organizational skills are a must
  • Not only are you good at coaching others but you truly enjoy it
  • You support the changing business needs, with a people-first mentality
  • You are passionate about creating a feedback culture
  • You love the data behind people and are skilled at using it to make well informed choices
  • 4+ years of People Partnering experience with at least 1 year being in a partner role (e.g. People & Culture Business Partner, People Business Partner, HR Business Partner, People Partner, etc.)
  • Experienced in compensation practices, organizational design, employee relations, diversity and career development (don’t need to be an expert, but enough to be “dangerous!”)
  • Experience working in Excel or Google Sheets is a must
  • Knowledge of employment law, IL and CA required, multi-state a plus
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP or SCP) is a plus
