About the Team
The Analytics team at EvenUp plays a critical role in driving data-informed decision-making across the organization. We partner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Executive teams to uncover insights, build scalable data solutions, and foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. Our team is responsible for everything from foundational data modeling and reporting to advanced analytics and forecasting.
We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our fast-paced, data-driven team. In this role, you will be the domain owner of medical information and plaintiff treatments. You’ll play a key role in understanding the treatment journey of plaintiffs, the impact on final settlements, and leveraging our data sets into actionable insights that deliver business value.
Location & Work Model
This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of being in one of our San Francisco or Toronto offices at least three days per week.
What You’ll Do
Translate complex datasets into clear insights with strategic recommendations that drive measurable actions and outcomes to inform product direction and business priorities
Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to define KPIs
Work with the evaluation data team to plan short and long-term annotation work and define evaluation schemas
Communicate analysis results and outcomes clearly and tailor messaging based on the audience
Help build and evolve our analytical foundation, including event instrumentation, metric frameworks, and scalable self-serve analytics tools
Mentor other analysts and raise the bar for data storytelling, analytical rigor, and stakeholder influence across the organization
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field such as statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent years of practical work experience
5+ years of experience using SQL or similar big data querying languages
5+ years of experience with a programming language such as Python or R
5+ years of experience with applied statistical techniques, such as inferential methods, causal methods, A/B testing, or statistical modeling techniques
Experience using machine learning and statistical analysis for building data-driven product solutions or conducting methodological research
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex findings from data and models into compelling insights for technical and non-technical audiences
Bonus (Nice to Have)
Advanced degree in applied mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics or a related field
Experience in a product-focused role in the medical domain
Strong mentorship and leadership skills, with a track record of elevating scientific standards and developing junior talent across teams
