Job Description:

At CodaMetrix, the machine learning (ML) and AI team is responsible for the invention, analysis, and deployment of new ML techniques using healthcare data to improve administrative and clinical medicine.

We are looking for an ML Engineer I to join our machine learning team and play a pivotal role in translating proof-of-concept ideas to scalable solutions. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, academicians to gather requirements and understand performance criteria to deliver solutions that optimize operational efficiency, and drive innovation in the healthcare industry. The Machine Learning Engineer I reports to the Director of MLEN.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish processes for data and modeling lifecycle through managing the transitions from proof-of-concept to production.

  • Collaborate with machine learning, engineering, and product development teams, for deployment of new machine learning techniques and follow deployments, tracking issues, and successes.

  • Ability to quickly adapt to dynamic requirements in terms of programming, system design and solutioning

  • Work on data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation to ensure robust and accurate predictive models.

  • Produce technical documentation, software, and supporting test code

  • Participate in all team activities, including agile ceremonies and reviews of other engineers designs and code

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field

  • Proficiency in Python, data manipulation libraries (Pandas, Numpy), deep learning frameworks (MLFlow, PyTorch with focus on Large Language Models)

  • Understanding of natural language processing, relevant machine learning subfields

  • Foundational grasp of Distributed computing, scalable data transformation, and event-based processing using Spark, preferably using the Databricks platform

  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL Databases

  • Proficiency in working within a Linux ecosystem and experience with Docker

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with both management and peers

Beneficial Experience:

  • Experience working in a startup / fast paced environment

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Databricks) for model deployment and scaling

  • Statistical background and/or exposure to ML techniques and programming

  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and privacy requirements (e.g., HIPAA).

  • Experience working with healthcare data and knowledge of US healthcare systems

  • Previous experience with data visualization tools and reporting.
