The Opioid Epidemic is a public health crisis with a highly effective but underutilized clinical intervention - millions of Americans are physically dependent on Opioids but only 10% of those likely to have OUD actually access treatment. Bicycle Health addresses this gap by maximizing accessibility, affordability, and overall quality of care by enabling highly qualified clinicians to reach patients broadly and efficiently through our online platform.

The Recovery Coach plays a vital role in supporting patients with opioid use disorder by providing peer-based recovery support as part of the Bicycle Health care team. The Recovery Coach meets with clients on a regular basis, documents the visit, provides peer support and reviews recovery goals. This role is crucial in delivering holistic care services by providing support across multiple systems and frameworks of care. This position focuses on engagement, motivation, and advocacy, helping patients navigate their recovery journey.

Location: Remote

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 1:30 pm EST to 10pm EST (Full time - 40 hours/week)

Target Pay: $23.00-25.00/ per hour - Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

You can expect to:

  • Serve as a contact point between established clients and the Bicycle Health program.
  • Offer peer-based support through one-on-one coaching and facilitation of peer support groups.
  • Document within the electronic health record in real-time while visiting with the client; document with a quality suitable to medical provider
  • Utilize patient management tools to track client progress, maintain engagement between medical visits, and document their participation in treatment and support services.
  • Engage clients in conversation and education about substance use, treatment, and recovery.
  • Gain knowledge of community, online, and other relevant support resources, and provide clients with information to help them achieve their treatment and recovery goals.
  • Identify barriers to full participation in the Bicycle Health program and communicate barriers to appropriate clinical team members as needed to address them.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the Motivational Interviewing framework and apply it consistently in all client interactions.
  • Maintain close, efficient communication with medical providers and other support staff involved in the care of assigned clients.
  • Attend and contribute to all assigned meetings.
  • Understand and support our identified program quality improvement metrics.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualities we're looking for:

  • Minimum two years of experience as a peer recovery coach, peer support worker or addiction counselor.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a medical practice or behavioral health field , including documentation within the electronic health record and close communication with providers.
  • Personal experience with substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery, either through direct involvement in one's own recovery journey or through close personal or professional relationships with individuals navigating SUD care. The key focus is the ability to relate to and empathetically discuss the unique challenges faced by individuals engaged in SUD treatment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, tailored to effectively engage with diverse audiences.
  • Exhibits cultural awareness and responsiveness, recognizing and respecting the diverse backgrounds and needs of clients.
  • Understanding of confidentiality requirements for the handling of client information.
  • Ability to practice self-care to maintain emotional and mental well-being while supporting individuals with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team that focuses on company-level goals.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.

This is a full-time (40hrs per week) remote position.
