The opportunity

As our Head of Talent, you'll be both the architect of our talent strategy during a critical growth phase. You'll lead our recruiting efforts across the organization, with a particular focus on bringing in top-tier technical talent. This is a unique opportunity to lead and scale a high-performing team while directly influencing the trajectory of a fast-growing startup.

Reporting directly to our CEO, you'll be responsible for executing our ambitious hiring plan, growing our team by 50% in 2025. You'll manage a team of recruiters and a coordinator.

What you'll do

  • Craft and execute our talent acquisition strategy to meet our aggressive growth targets across engineering, product, sales, success, marketing, and operations while being creative and scrappy about how to grow awareness with top talent

  • Deliver an exceptional candidate experience that continues to reflect our values and creates a compelling journey from first touchpoint to offer acceptance – Assembled already stands out on this front today, and it’s an area where you should continue to innovate

  • Lead a team of recruiting professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and development while fostering a culture of excellence

  • Partner closely with hiring managers and executives to elevate their hiring capabilities, drive alignment on talent priorities, and craft and execute a strategy for filling key roles

  • Implement data-driven approaches to track recruiting metrics, identify bottlenecks, focus everyone’s time on the highest-impact activities, and continuously improve our execution

  • Manage relationships with external recruiting partners and optimize our recruiting tech stack to maximize efficiency and impact

  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Assembled, representing our mission and values to potential candidates

  • Build diversity, equity, and inclusion into every aspect of our recruiting strategy

What we're looking for

Experience and skills

  • Minimum 7+ years of technical recruiting experience with a proven track record at high-growth Series B-C startups

  • 3+ years of experience managing and developing high-performing startup recruiting teams

  • Demonstrable history of successfully closing top candidates for challenging roles

  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to optimize recruiting strategies

  • Experience implementing and managing recruiting technologies and systems

  • Deep understanding of the SF/Bay Area talent market

Requirements

  • Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area (this role must be in office in SF a minimum of 2 days a week; preference for 4-5 days a week in-office)

  • Experience in technical recruiting in a Series B-C startup environment

  • Proven track record hiring innovative, forward-thinking talent across functions

  • Must have been part of successful high-growth recruiting team
