About this role:

The Director of Professional Practice and Training will work with the VP of Clinical Network and Chief Nursing Officer to lead our clinical Hero Network's educational and training initiatives. The Director will play a pivotal role in advancing our programs by designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive education and training programs for Hawthorne Effect Heroes, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their role of end-to-end visit execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for clinical education and training.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align educational initiatives with objectives and organizational goals.
  • Develop and execute an expansion plan, based on professional practice considerations such as regional scope and standards of practice, to conduct learning needs assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of educational deliverables in other markets.

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Design and oversee the development of educational programs, curricula, and training materials for Heroes.
  • Ensure the smooth delivery of Hero educational communications.
  • Implement and evaluate the effectiveness of educational initiatives, making necessary adjustments to enhance program outcomes.

Learning Management System Development and Implementation:

  • Develop systems and tools that allow efficient and effective training delivery and objective assessment of training success.
  • Collaborate with the Product team to ensure specifications for development meet the needs of the program.
  • Oversee the implementation of training courses into the LMS.
  • Develop proposals for software, vendor, or other types of support for the clinical practice and training team.

Team Management:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team, including instructional designers, educators, and trainers.
  • Oversee clinical training team members, contractors, vendors, and others supporting professional practice and training needs within various hero types such as nurses, sonographers, nurse practitioners, physicians, and phlebotomists.
  • Establish goals and objectives with direct reports in alignment with the strategic goals of Hawthorne Effect and provide ongoing performance evaluation.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Revise, develop, and author all clinical and network specific controlled documents while engaging stakeholders and assessing internal and external impact.
  • Ensure that all clinical education and training programs adhere to relevant regulatory requirements, including ICH-GCP, FDA guidelines, and other applicable standards and timeframes.
  • Responsible for tracking and overseeing diligence for clinical practice limitations by region.
  • Ensure all Heroes are compliant in required training.
  • Implement processes in compliance with regulations to promote workplace and lone worker safety.

Pre-Visit Preparation Program:

  • Design and oversee the development of a program to ensure visit readiness for new heroes or heroes new to study focusing on efficiency and scalability.
  • Include methods such as teach-back along with innovative approaches to learning to streamline visit readiness process.

Clinical Expertise:

  • Oversee content development to ensure accuracy according to clinical and research standards.
  • Develop plans for expansion of hero types and credentials to support evolving network needs.
  • Review protocols and provide clinical insight as needed to support business development and study start up efforts.

Performance Management:

  • Monitor the clinical performance of Heroes and implement retraining initiatives when needed.
  • Implement measures to ensure the effectiveness of clinical training courses and reviews.
  • Establish and implement metrics and KPIs to track progress, performance, and enable effective management and decision making.

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish quality assurance mechanisms to monitor the effectiveness and impact of clinical education programs.
  • Implement strategies to maintain high standards of educational content and delivery.
  • Participate in corrective and preventive action plans and support the resolution of hero related quality issues.
  • Analyze stakeholder feedback (participant and hero) to identify opportunities to improve experience.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with senior leaders, research programs teams, quality, operations, and other stakeholders to identify educational needs and align training programs accordingly.

Position Requirements:

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing effective education and training programs
  • Bachelor of Science degree required, Master of Science degree preferred
  • Active Registered Nurse license required (compact license preferred)
  • Certification in nursing professional development (e.g. NPD-BC) or clinical research (e.g., ACRP, SoCRA) is a plus
  • Extensive experience in clinical research, including leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of clinical research regulations, GCP, ethics, and best practices
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to drive organizational change
  • Familiarity with instructional design and virtual learning tools
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Proactive approach and solutions oriented mindset
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects independently

Location:

This position is remote, with potential to travel less than 10%; however, candidates must work East Coast hours.
